Annual Conference

TCAA's Annual Conference offers hospital and trauma system administrative professionals a one stop educational conference. In addition to the 2-day annual meeting, pre-conference and post-conference courses are also offered, and cover trauma operations, including: system development, finance, reimbursement, advocacy, performance improvement and many facets of leadership development. The goal of TCAA's conference is to prepare participants to address the issues confronting trauma centers and trauma systems, now and in the future.

Definitive Surgical Trauma Care Course™ (DSTC™)

The DSTC™ Course, by IATSIC, is an intensive 2 or 3-day course comprising lectures, interactive case discussions and laboratory based surgical skills training.

Program Description:

• Surgical decision making in complex scenarios
• Operative technique in critically ill trauma patients
• Hands on practical experience with experienced instructors
• Insight into difficult trauma situations with learned techniques of hemorrhage control and the ability to handle major thoracic, cardiac and abdominal injuries

Basic Trauma Center Finance and Business Course

The Trauma Center Basic Finance & Business Course will assist healthcare professionals in becoming familiar with costs, charges, and codes related to trauma center reimbursement. The knowledge gained will provide the foundation to develop and sustain a trauma program. This track will provide basic finance principles, hospital billing cycle, and trauma charges as well as an introduction of the definition and utilization of codes 068x, 450, 208 and FL14 type 5. Lectures feature reality-based trauma program cases and essential steps in business planning. Upon completion of the in-depth didactic sessions, you will feel confident applying the lessons learned to your trauma program.

Advanced Trauma Center Finance and Business Course

The Trauma Center Advanced Finance and Business Course expands on the principles learned in the Basic Finance and Business Course. This course will provide you with the tools needed to address both internal and external financial challenges within your own trauma center. Emphasis will be on advanced finance and economic principles as well as business plans, annual reports, professional billing, contracts, and collections/denials. If you have completed the basic track or would like to take your financial experience and knowledge to the next level, this course is for you!

Trauma Medical Director Course

The medical leadership skills needed in today’s trauma centers are best gained by sharing the experiences of others. This course is tailored for TMD's to improve operations in their trauma center and exert control over trauma surgical practices. The faculty will deliver core principles for the leadership and business skills needed to succeed in the challenging healthcare environment. Participants will enjoy a collaborative and case-based learning atmosphere. Course is limited to 20 participants.

Advanced Trauma Medical Director Course

The ATMD course curriculum is designed to provide established TMDs with additional skills and explore advanced concepts that can be used to grow their programs. The course includes selected areas of hospital and professional finances, performance improvement, team management and leadership. The 12-hour course is divided into 3 modules: Leadership, Finance and Performance Improvement. The course utilizes a small group, case-study based format that provides a unique, interactive teaching environment to promote discussion and broad exchange of ideas.

Trauma University

TCAA’s Trauma University is designed to provide practitioners with four hours of clinical education. Topics are based on TCAA member recommendations and are presented live each year at the TCAA's Annual Meeting. Recordings are available (with credit) in TCAA's Online Education platform.

PTSD and Mental Healthcare After Injury Course

Join fellow healthcare providers in learning more about the importance of recognizing and addressing the emotional needs of your trauma patients by attending the PTSD and Mental Health Care After Injury Course. This one day course will focus on the mental health conditions and hidden wounds facing trauma patients and their families, such as PTSD and depression. It will also introduce centers to current solutions for dealing with these challenges. The course will provide participants with the latest science informing care in this area along with the tools and knowledge needed to establish a program at their trauma center. The latest national recommendations and guidelines will be presented and discussed. The program will be provided by faculty from nationally recognized trauma centers with experience and expertise in this area.

Dynamic Leadership Team Course

This interactive course is led by experienced, dedicated faculty who will build upon the unique working relationship between a Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Manager, Director of Trauma, or Executive Team Administrator. Discover a comprehensive curriculum featuring essential topics including overcoming operational barriers, human resource principles, expanding your trauma program and team, analyzing program finances, and crafting strategic plans. Equip yourself with effective leadership strategies to use at your Level I-IV trauma center, fostering skill development and team cohesion.

TCAA offers LIVE webinars on current topics of interest to everyone involved with the trauma program. Webinars are available to members only and are recorded for later viewing.
