Proposed Policy, Payment, and Quality Provisions Changes to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for Calendar Year (CY) 2017

We would like to draw your attention to the following recently released information from CMS:

As part of the requirement enacted by Congress, the CY 17 physician fee schedule rule proposes to survey a large, representative sample of practitioners and their clinical staff in which respondents would report information about approximately 20 discrete pre-operative and post-operative visits and other global services like care coordination and patient training. CMS expects to obtain data from approximately 5,000 practitioners.  Based on the results of the data, the agency would revalue surgical services during future rulemaking.

What can we do?

CMS will accept comments on the proposed rule through September 6, 2016 and will respond to comments in a final rule. We encourage you to submit comments directly and provide a copy of your comments to TCAA.  In addition, our federal lobbyists are drafting comments on behalf of TCAA.  The proposed rule will appear in the July 15, 2016, Federal Register and can be downloaded from the Federal Register at:
