She completed her MPH with a focus on Health Promotion Sciences from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She has worked at Integris Baptist Medical Center, for a physician at Mercy Health Center, as a contractor with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, and at the Oklahoma City-County Health Department. He is currently a Senior Strategist for Population Health at Children's Hospital Colorado, the state’s only ACS-verified Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. In this role he serves as the Injury Prevention Program Manager, which includes oversight of the comprehensive programmatic and financial resources for the hospital’s community-focused I.P. education and outreach initiatives. Among these responsibilities are guiding and identifying funding for programs aimed at reducing motor vehicle occupant injuries, home injuries, and recreational injuries. Dwayne coordinates the Safe Kids Colorado state office, contributes local coalition oversight for Safe Kids Colorado Springs and Safe Kids Denver Metro, and serves on the Colorado Child Fatality prevention System Committee. Prior to coming to Children’s Colorado in 2012, Dwayne worked for the previous 17 years as the I.P. Program Manager at AnMed Health, a Level II Trauma Center in Anderson, South Carolina, and in I.P. Coordinator roles with the DeKalb County Board of Health in Georgia, and the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control. Dwayne has been recognized on numerous occasions for his strategic planning efforts, proficiency in grant writing, innovative approaches to using injury data to inform program development, and for public policy and legislative advocacy efforts. A credentialed Master Certified Health Education Specialist and one of the nation’s original and longest serving national Child Passenger Safety Technicians, Dwayne holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Health Promotion & Behavior from the University of Georgia.
