Telemedicine use has grown exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic;
to support the wide adoption of telemedicine, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response is partnering with the ECHO Institute at the University of New Mexico and the Public Health Foundation’s TRAIN Learning Network to deliver a 10-week, virtual peer-to-peer learning community called Telemedicine Hack. This learning collaborative will be an opportunity for healthcare delivers to gain the knowledge and skills needed to implement video-based telemedicine into their practices. Learn more here

Counterfeit respirators are products that are falsely marketed and sold as being NIOSH approved and may not be capable of providing appropriate respiratory protection to workers. The Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and FEMA will continue to hold recurring Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) themed calls on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month until further notice. These Emergency Support Function 14 (ESF-14) Cross-Sector Business and Infrastructure Partners Calls, concerning the non-medical side of COVID-19, have been very successful in creating a larger community-focused dialogue, performing issuing spotting, and unifying messages and efforts across public and private critical infrastructure partners.

Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Workshop

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is hosting a one day virtual workshop on Clinical Decision Support (CDS). A central promise of CDS is to help reduce the burden of information overload and increasingly complex clinical knowledge and guidelines posed to clinicians by making information about a patient easier to assess or more apparent, or to foster optimal problem solving, decision making, and action. This workshop will identify novel approaches being used in CDS that present opportunities for collaboration and harmonization. Federal partners and key public stakeholders are invited to attend to learn about the current efforts in CDS and opportunities to leverage federal work to help public efforts, and vice-versa. The expected outcomes include an identification of CDS silos, an understanding of the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning in CDS and solutions to address cross agency/stakeholder CDS issues.
