The HPH Sector Preparedness, Response, and COVID-19 Efforts Bulletin is produced by the HHS ASPR Division of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) to keep the HPH Sector informed on both COVID-19 efforts and additional preparedness and response updates. 

Situational Awareness

As of August 5, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports 4,748,806 cases and 156,311 deaths in the United States. The map below shows confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases reported by U.S. states and territories, and the District of Columbia. To access the map in interactive form with additional information on each state, visit CDC Cases in U.S. or CDC Coronavirus Interactive.

Healthcare Resilience



Rural Health

  • The Rural Healthcare Information Hub released its Rural Healthcare Surge Readiness page, highlighting essential resources, tools, and training to prepare for and respond to COVID-19 in rural communities.
  • The Health Resources and Services Administration announced the Healthy Tomorrows Partnership for Children Program, to support innovative, community-based initiatives to improve the health status of infants, children, adolescents, and families in rural and other underserved communities.

  • On July 28, ASPR TRACIE, in collaboration with the COVID-19 Healthcare Resilience Working Group, hosted a webinar regarding the Use of Telemedicine in Alternate Care Sites.
