HOUSE

The House returns at 2:00 p.m. Monday and will consider four Small Business bills under suspension of the rules. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the chamber will meet at 12:00 p.m. for legislative business, with eight Judiciary and Foreign Affairs bills currently scheduled for consideration.

Later in the week, the House will consider the Corporate Transparency Act of 2019 (H.R. 2513), a bill that would require newly-formed shell companies and similar entities to disclose their true beneficial owners. The measure includes an exemption for financial institutions and other companies that are already subject to disclosure requirements, as well as businesses that exceed thresholds for employees and sales.

The chamber is also expected to vote on the SHIELD Act (H.R. 4617), a bill that require candidates and campaigns to report “improper offers” of assistance by foreign officials or their lobbyists. It would require online political ads to identify their sponsors, direct large online platforms (e.g., Facebook) to maintain records of individuals and groups that make requests for political ads, and would bar candidates and campaigns from providing nonpublic campaign material to foreign nationals.

SENATE

The Senate reconvenes Monday at 3:00 p.m. and will resume consideration of the North Atlantic Treaty of 1949 on the Accession of the Republic of North Macedonia Treaty.
